spring Cleaning.

11 Feb 2025

This life is everlasting, everchanging, and non-stop. So if a goal marks endgame, is there any such thing?

This winter has been warm, and even on the coldest of days — which meant snow for Georgia — people gathered together like a hot summer’s day celebration. The winter plants didn’t show up in abundance until mid to late January, and like the plants, my Spring revelations came later than normal. Late last night, and early this morning to be exact. The revelation didn’t come as a thought, but an internal command rather. It’s been sitting on my sternum for many seasons, however, this morning during a hot shower, I realized why it should not live there. The subject of this piece was introduced in the first question… goals. The revelation of this piece was introduced in the fourth sentence of this here paragraph… commands.

In tech, one uses the ‘command’ key to start an action or set of actions, meaning the application of pressure to that one specific key catalyzes the onset of what is to come next. This is such a simple concept, however, I recently heard the phrase, “Simple doesn’t mean not challenging,” and immediately understood where stagnation comes from. There’s usually one internal task at a time that is necessary for exponential expansion and way opening… and leave it to the internal realm to be the most simple, yet the most challenging to master. This winter I’ve been able to approach work at a steady pace due to applying pressure on myself to grow, however, clearing my space has still been slow due to a blockage in my throat/vocals that I’ve created throughout the years in response to my environment. Slow and steady wins the race they say, but will it get you to all the sp[l]aces you want to be within a lifetime is the question I ask.

That circles me back to the time I spent in the shower this morning, and understanding that although I’ve refined what needs to be at the moment physically, the dark spaces within are what has to be mastered before the next door even cracks. It continues to intrigue and amaze me how that relation works, and how the true naked eye will pick it up before relaying it to the pupils… then the pupils to the space in front of them. The fact that a portion of me that has nothing to do with knitting or crocheting or designing a garment still has everything to do with the weaving and design or de∙sine of my life. It’s simple to follow your own command, and if you burn hot enough, the challenge becomes more like a morning walk. Your destination becomes less of an endgame/goal feeling, and more of a delicious respite during this everlasting exploration.

Spring is among us. These spring showers have equipped me for the waves of heat to come. It’s equipped me with the strength, confidence, and pressure/explosiveness it’ll take to wave a path ahead and expand from the slow waters into the rapids… and to be washed back into the shadows/shallows [revision 02/20]. Sometimes cleaning a space has nothing to do with what you do manually, but everything to do with how you use your breath and voice, in the time it matters most/the 0ne and exact moment it truly matters, to create the c[h]ords that clear the airways surrounding you, thus the airways surrounding your next step. Perspire to inspire.
